Pink, Purple and Nude Zebra Nails!

You guys, I'm obsessed! I cant even!! By far my favorite mani as of yet!! This will be my Mani for the weekend. No special plans, just regular weekend things (dinner out with the family, window shop, exchange some jeans).

On the thumb, pointer and pinky is Sephora's "where's my purse" which sadly is discontinued (I'm suffering too, I know)

On the middle and ring is first one thin layer of Sephora "where's my purse" (discontinued), then with a makeup sponge I layered (top) OPI "Vant to bite my neck?", (middle) China Glaze "flying dragon", and (bottom) Zoya "Gie Gie". then the zebra stripe is OPI "black Onyx" with a thin stripper brush. I don't use tape around the nails I sponge as I find its crazy annoying so I use Elmer's glue (not the stick kind but the kind you squeeze out of the bottle) and use a paint brush very close to the cuticles and let it completely dry before I start using the sponge then just peel it off! minimal cleaning!! I might repeat this mani once it starts to fade 'cuz honestly, I'm obsessed....

Color Dupe for Lime Crime Velvetine in Salem Photos, Comparison and Swatches

So I've been wanting the Lime Crime Velvetine in Salem ($20) since they first launched in the beginning of the year. Lime Crime also released at the same time a Black and a Burgundy-red Velvetine which Doe Deere, creator of Lime Crime, called the trio "Gothatines". Get it? Because her originals are called VELVETines... and these are much more gothic-ier? Ok. I already have a Black liquid lipstick from Pretty Zombie Cosmetics and various Burgundies but had NOTHING like this chocolate brown-red! Needless to say, I needed this beauty in my collection. But this post is not talking about the Velvetine. It's that I found a color dupe for it!!

Let me begin by saying the texture of the two are totally different and quality obviously varies which makes this not an exact dupe but only for the color. The point is as follows; $20 seems like a lot for some people and their shipping is ridiculous on their website, LimeCrime.com. Since this is such a unique color and dont know how it'll look on you, all you have to do is hop on over to Walgreens (or wherever they sell Jordana Cosmetics) and get yourself the EasyLiner for lips retractable pencil in Coco Loco! The difference between the Lime Crime and the Jordana one is that the Velvetine is a long lasting, smudge-proof liquid lipstick that has almost no transfer and smells DELICIOUSLY like cake, whereas the EasyLiner one is almost like a very skinny lipstick in the sense that it is not very long lasting and smears very easily. You'll notice in the last pic, when it came time to remove the swatches from my arm the Jordana one came right off whereas the Lime Crime one took a whole lot more effort to remove!

So basically if you're not too sure the shade will work for you but don't want to ham out $20 plus shipping and risking you hating it, just buy the Jordana liner for $2.19 and if you fall in love with it, invest in a much higher quality product that will last much longer on your lips! Plus the Lime Crime packaging is adorable!

Tory Burch Lip Color in Swizzle Review, Photos and Swatches!

Tory Burch Lip color in Swizzle ($32) is a sheer berry color with silver sparkle throughout yet barely noticeable on the lips. The texture is very creamy and luxurious, as you would expect anything coming from Tory. I mostly do enjoy the scent. It has subtle notes of her Perfume Tory Burch, which I own and has become a signature scent of mine. The notes as described in her site are cassis, grapefruit, and mandarin.

Now lets talk about the packaging. She followed the theme of her Perfume and went with bright Orange and Gold with a lovely almost chevron pattern. The packaging size is identical to that of Tom Ford Lip Color. The very tip of the bullet has her signature logo, "TT", but faded away very quickly with just one use of the lipstick but that is due to the fact that it is so sheer and creamy. Don't let that fool you into thinking it will fade off your lips though, because I've had it on for about 5 hours so far and it leaves such a lovely tint and when I smoosh my lips together I can still feel the moisture.

Final verdict? I love it! I am more used to matte or full-on color lipsticks but sometimes I just want a light tint to my lips without drying it out like some lip tints do. This will also be a very lovely addition to my collection display on my Vanity. Once I have my Vanity all ready I'll show you guys.

Introduction to Hilda Does Makeup!

Well, lets get this started! This will be my first post in my beauty, fashion and lifestyle blog! Here I'll just talk a little about myself and the story behind my passion for makeup.

First of all, I have no idea what I'm doing lol. This is the first time I do anything like this so please bare with me! i promise I'll provide lots of cool context soon!

Ok, so before we talk beauty talk lets get a little personal here. My name is Hilda. I am a 28 year old stay-at-home soccer mom. Before that I was a painter, graphic designer, sculptor and a baker. I've always been involved in art in some form or another. Now I am married to a great guy named William and have my little family established. We married in 2007 and have two wonderful and charismatic little boys. Logan, 6 and Lucas, 4. Life is hectic but theres always room for makeup!

I've always loved makeup. Always thought red lips was the epitome of elegance with a hint of sexy. At one point I had braces and I remember telling myself "the day I get this crap off imma wear red lipstick every day!". and while that didn't actually happen I did always rely on my winged liner. As a young teen that was the only makeup i actually wore. It was probably a Maybelline liquid liner but i carried that thing with me everywhere! To be honest, it was only up until the last few years was when I discovered the wonderful world of makeup outside of the drugstore! I had no Idea there was such a luxe range of red lipstick and liquid liner! lol. Dont get me wrong, nothing wrong with drugstore makeup, but nothing beats the quality of highend. you truly do get what you pay for. I'm sold on the packaging itself!

The way I discovered the high-end and luxury makeup is, it actually came from a confidence boost I gained from losing weight! With the miracle that is to create life, comes the whoas of weight gain. I went from 135 lbs (pre baby) to 198 lbs! When my youngest turned two, I said enough is enough! The excuse of: "I just had a baby" was not valid anymore at that point. Long story short I am now at 125 lbs! the more I lost weight the better I felt about myself and funnily enough started to cover myself with makeup lol. The way I see it is I love myself enough to decorate myself. Like you would a new house. Decorate all the walls!

Youtube became my best friend. Paved the way and taught me all the brand names before i started venturing off and doing my own research. I'm curious by nature so I had to look beyond a lot of the sponsored videos. Then I discovered r/makeupaddition at Reddit.com. Being surrounded by equally passionate makeup lovers has been such a pleasure! They gave such amazing support and inspiration!

And well...... I think thats about it! For now at least! I hope this wasn't too much to read but I thought it was necessary before a total stranger starts talking to you about brands and new launches. Stay tuned, Folks!

Love, Hilda! <3
